Tally is a small app for grassroots sports teams. This page says what we hold about you, why we hold it, and what you can do about it. No small print — if something here isn't clear, ask us.
The short version
- We collect what the app needs to run your team, and nothing else.
- We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or track you around the internet.
- Your teammates can see your team activity. Nobody outside your team can.
- You can delete your account and everything attached to it whenever you like.
What we collect
Your account:
- Your name and email address.
- Your password, which is stored scrambled by our login provider. We never see it and can't look it up.
- A profile photo, if you add one. That one is entirely optional.
Your team:
- Which teams you belong to, whether you're an admin or a player, and your jersey number if you set one.
- Fines issued to you — the amount, the reason and whether it's paid.
- The 3/2/1 votes you cast, and the votes cast for you.
- Game results, and the goals, assists and cards recorded against your name.
- Attendance — here, late or no show — and any excuse you submit for missing something.
- Your answers to availability polls for upcoming rounds and training.
Notifications:
- If you turn on push notifications, your browser gives us an address for that device and the keys needed to send to it. It identifies a browser, not you.
That's the lot. We don't collect your location, your contacts or anything else from your phone, and there are no advertising trackers in the app.
Why we collect it
- To run your team — the fines, the votes, the roll, the results.
- To add the season up and show you where it landed.
- To send the notifications you've asked for, and no others.
- To keep accounts secure and to sort out problems when they come up.
Who can see it
- Your teammates. Everyone in a team can see that team's fines, attendance, results and season totals, with names against them. That's the point of it. Votes are the exception — they stay hidden until voting closes for that round, or until an admin reveals them at the end of the season.
- Your team admins. They can add, edit and remove their team's records, including ones with your name on.
- Us. We can reach your data when we need to fix a fault or answer something you've asked. We don't go looking otherwise.
- Nobody else. We don't sell, rent or trade your information, and we don't hand it to advertisers. The only exception would be if the law required us to.
Where it's stored
Tally runs on Supabase, which holds the database, the logins and any photos, and on Vercel, which serves the app. They store the data on our behalf and aren't allowed to use it for their own purposes. Their servers sit overseas, so your information may be stored and processed outside Australia.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. If you leave a team, the team keeps its own records — a season's fines and votes still have to add up — but you lose access to them. If you delete your account, we remove your personal details from those records as well.
Deleted data can sit in routine backups for a short period before those roll over.
Deleting your account and data
You can walk away at any time, and you don't have to give a reason.
- Leave a team. In team settings. Your access ends immediately.
- Delete a team. If you're the admin who set it up, deleting the team removes everything in it — fines, votes, results, the roll — for everyone.
- Delete your account. On your profile page, under Leaving. It happens straight away: your login, your name and your photo are gone, and the records your teams keep stop pointing at you. If you're the only admin of a team it passes to whoever has been in it longest, and if there's nobody left in it the team goes as well. If you'd rather we did it, email Sean.Woolnough@outlook.com from the address on the account.
Juniors
Tally is built for club teams, junior sides included. An account for anyone under 16 should be set up and looked after by a parent or guardian, and a parent can ask us to delete it at any time using the email address above.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it's wrong, and ask us to delete it. Email Sean.Woolnough@outlook.com and we'll sort it.
If you think we've mishandled your information, tell us first and we'll try to put it right. If you're not happy with how we handle it, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
If we change it we'll update the date at the top of this page, and anything that genuinely affects you gets a notification in the app rather than a quiet edit.
